Introduction to Intersectionality
This short film explains why intersectional thinking needs to cut across all workplace activities.
Description
We all have different aspects to our identity, such as our race, our social background, our gender and our sexuality. People may identify with several different marginalised or minority groups at the same time, which can cause them to experience multiple and intersecting forms of bias and discrimination. This short film explains how an intersectional approach helps us to understand the unique experiences that occur at the intersections of identities and take steps to address inequality and discrimination.
Course Objectives
- How personal characteristics such as our race, social class, sex or religion intersect to produce multiple and overlapping forms of bias and discrimination
